Last post of 2014 guys!
This time, we found ourselves on a short trip across east Germany, indulging in the winter festivities and learning a great deal about the country’s grim history. We began at the country’s capital of Berlin and made our way down south through the state of Bavaria towards Munich, stopping by Nuremberg mid-trip for one of the best Christmas markets EVER (:
Visited countless historical sites and monuments, including a baroque-styled monastery with history dating back to the 11th-century, Neuschwanstein Castle (my 2nd time!) and really picturesque market squares and alleys. Got to taste-test the most amazing Bavarian beer (despite my allergies), had piping glühwein (mulled wine), nomm-ed on mouth-watering Dresden Rahmklecks & had the best currywurst on the planet! NOTHING can describe the Schweinshaxe (pork-knuckle) we had. I’ll leave it as that.
The only thing we regret is not staying on for longer. A REAL PITY ’cause it only began to snow right after we left Germany! Boo.
Listed most of the places in the video (in chronological order):
The Brandenburg Gate
The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe
The Berlin Wall
Dokumentationszentrum Reichsparteitagsgelaende (Documentation Centre to the Nazi Party Rally Grounds)
Henkersteg (Hangman’s Bridge)
Kettensteg (Chained Suspension Bridge )
Viktualienmarkt (Munich Maypole)
Rottenbuch Abbey Church
Wittelsbacherpl. (Medieval Market)
P/S: The above is not a comprehensive list of places we visited. There was simply too much footage to include everything, Germany overwhelmed us, much! See you guys next year! :3
